Mastering Star Trails
Learn how to take your Night Photography to the next level by Seizing the Night with Star Trails! National Parks at Night co-founder will walk you through the steps - from how to take your initial star point exposures to how to master those epically long circumpolar images. The benefits of both long and short exposures will be discussed, and by the end of this presentation,
you’ll have the confidence and knowledge to use them both.
Gabe will also share the necessary equipment needed as well as how to put them all together using Lightroom and Photoshop.

Gabriel Biderman is a travel and self-taught fine art photographer who has been exploring night topography for over 20 years. Gabe loves the "process" of creating the image and pushing the limits to what we can do when capturing time for seconds, minutes, or even hours! He is well versed in film and digital photography and enjoys blending the surreal look of the night to enhance historic and urban landscapes. Gabriel is also the co-founder of National Parks at Night, the leading source for night photography education and hands-on workshops since 2015.

PrintingPrinting

Printing"The negative is comparable to the composer’s score and the print to its performance. Each performance differs in subtle ways."– Ansel Adams

In addition to Gabe's talk on Star Trails, the meeting will begin with the first in a series of brief discussions on Printing. These printing discussions will culminate with an exhibit of prints at the Library.

The Peer Mentor Program is making significant changes in our 2023 meetings. The most important change is that our monthly meetings will have both face-to-face and Zoom opportunities for everyone. These meetings will be the 4th Tuesday each month in the Meridian Trust in Jackson. The theme for these meetings will also be different.

After introducing a variety of potential monthly themes in several surveys, the PMP has decided to use three types of themes in 2023: the Monthly Theme Challenge that has been used for several years; the Compare-a-Pair theme that was used in 2018; and a variety of Education Presentations. Each PMP meeting will also begin with a 30-minute Q&A that will focus on a topic the peer mentors have chosen.

The Peer Mentor Program began in 2016 and has changed many times to fulfill the needs and requests of a wide variety of photographers. We welcome new members to join a supportive environment where all types of photographic questions are encouraged and courteously answered. If you have more questions about the program, please contact Randy Isaacson at 208-270-4298 ortetonphotoclub3@gmail.comwith questions about our program.
