“Harnessing Earth's Potential: Advances in Geothermal Energy, Thermal Storage, and Carbon Sequestration” by Trevor Atkinson, Idaho National Laboratory

At the Idaho National Laboratory, Trevor Atkinson is conducting advanced research in sustainable energy solutions, focusing on geothermal energy, geologic thermal energy storage (GeoTES), and carbon sequestration. Our work on geothermal energy explores novel techniques for harnessing the Earth's heat to provide a reliable and continuous power source. By integrating GeoTES, we aim to enhance energy storage capabilities, allowing for efficient heat retention and release, which is crucial for balancing energy supply and demand.

Furthermore, our research extends to carbon sequestration, where we investigate methods to capture and securely store CO2 emissions within geological formations, mitigating the impact of greenhouse gases on the environment. This talk will delve into the technical aspects of our projects, the challenges we face, and the innovative solutions we are developing to address global energy and environmental concerns. Join us to explore how our interdisciplinary approach is driving the future of clean energy and sustainability.
